BCA PA 1st Committee Updates
October 25, 2011
1. Room Parent
a. 1st Grade Chair—still looking for a Room Lead to represent 1st grade classes. Primary role is forwarding emails to 1st grade Room Leads.
b. Room Leads—remind class parents of upcoming PA programs. Make sure committees are on schedule to execute tasks/activities.
2. Building
a. 1st Grade Chair—still looking for a Building Lead to represent 1st grade classes. Primary role is forwarding emails to 1st grade building Leads.
b. Next step—BCA 2 garden clean up. Chairs will be emailing out a date for clean up to all class building committee Leads. Tools provided by school, all parents welcome just show up and help. Thanks!
c. Students began planting tulips during their science classes last week.
d. PA will be funding a weather station for the school. Will be a very educational tool during science class.
3. Events
a. K and 1st Grade Chair-- still looking for a Lead to represent K & 1st grade classes. 5 chairs will work together to plan remaining social and community service events and coordinate class event leads to execute the plans.
b. Upcoming projects
i. Nov 7th—coordinate Hopelink food drive (Nov 28 – Dec 2)
ii. Nov 14th--present proposal for January family night at school
iii. Nov 28 – Dec 1, Fall Book Fair—volunteers needed to work registers
4. Library
a. First project is to stamp (with BCA stamp) and shelve donated books in libraries.
5. Party
a. Fall Fun, Oct 31st—make sure all supplies and volunteers are ready.
b. End of Year Celebration (Carnival) planning begins Jan 30th.
6. Photographer
a. 1st and 2nd Grade Chairs—still looking for Leads to represent 1st and 2nd grade classes. Primary role is forwarding emails to your grade levels.
b. Upcoming photographing events
i. Fall Fun, Oct 31st—Leads make sure someone will be taking photos at the party.
ii. Nov 5th “A Season of Growth” Annual Auction Gala—need one volunteer for event.
iii. Nov 10th Overlake School Band Concert—need one volunteer
iv. Nov 28- Dec 1st / 2nd—Fall Book Fair and Hopelink food drive—need one volunteer.
7. Sunshine
a. Class Leads should be organizing one coffee social during the school year.
b. Plan Teacher Appreciation Week beginning April.
8. Technology
a. 1st Grade Chair—still looking for a Lead to represent all 1st grade classes. The 5 Chairs will work together on projects:
i. PA website maintenance/development--to figure out how to proceed, whether to build upon our existing PA website or build a new website from scratch to provide the functionality we desire. Storage boxes for class photos.
ii. School-wide technology problem solving and maintenance
iii. Classroom technology suggestions
9. Yearbook
a. Committee really likes the idea of a color yearbook this year. BOD has contacted last year’s printer for price differential and other details. BOD will inform Chairs accordingly.

The school emailed all parents a Committee Directory (excel file) on Oct 10th. One sheet is “Committee Leads starred” and the other sheet is “Committee Chairs.” Locate your committee chair on the second sheet.
